It was an incredibly short trip, just long enough to   say hello and go on a couple of nice adventures nearby.<br \/>\nOn the first day we went on a walk along the edge of the rocks,   stopping to look at some of the amazing rock art galleries along the   way, and also to check on dad&#8217;s bees.  One of mum&#8217;s favourite   pictures was these emu&#8217;s. Even though faded they are still amazingly   lifelike &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--Mime Type of File is image\/jpeg --><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/janandira.com\/wordpress\/wp-photos\/20080216-131105-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"emus.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/janandira.com\/wordpress\/wp-photos\/thumb.20080216-131105-1.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Mum the botanist<br \/>\n<!--Mime Type of File is image\/jpeg --><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/janandira.com\/wordpress\/wp-photos\/20080216-131105-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"flora.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/janandira.com\/wordpress\/wp-photos\/thumb.20080216-131105-2.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Next day, dad took us to a nearby stretch of the liverpool river,   where we were able to go for a bit of a kayak.  All the way Jake&#8217;s   dog bundi kept trying to bite tree trunks from the   back of the ute!  To say the least it looked like a dangerous   hobby &#8230; but despite several nasty clashes with large or spiky trees   he kept at it with real vigour.<\/p>\n<p>Me and Jan went for first turn in   the kayak, and had a magic hour of paddling up a river until   eventually we reached a small rapid, leading to the next stretch.    All the way we paddled slowly, gazing up at the rock cliffs on either   side, and the nice river pandanus.
