It was the first proper trip for Jan&#8217;s kayak and we gave it a good testing.  The trip was definitely one of the most fun in a while. We glided along with the current in perfect peace.  Nobody else was on this lovely windy little stretch of river and we had some great bird encounters too.  We watched a kingfisher flying from bank   to bank .. even hovering in front of us for a few seconds and also saw a yellow wagtail up close.  There was also a bit of high adrenaline as we traversed the notoriously   dangerous Brandon weir  &#8230; and we saw loads of swans, ducks and   cows.
