Christmas Cake!

Ira made an enormous Traditional Christmas Cake this year to give to Rob’s family as a present. We spent Christmas with Rob and his family up in Derby. Funnily enough the recipe Ira used came from ‘The Complete Asian Cookbook’ under the Sri Lanka section!

Making the cake was quite an undertaking, and it contained 25 different ingredients including 12 egg yolks! Ira took his job very seriously and spent a lot of time and effort on the cake and even iced it with marzipan and sugar icing.

I might have stolen a spring of holy from my neighbours garden to finish it off properly!

The finished cake easily weighed 5 kg – (possibly closer to 10!) and was a huge hit with Rob’s family. His Grandma even asked for the recipe! A definite seal of approval!
